Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us when you use GimbalPilot. We have kept it in plain language — the short version: pay monthly, cancel anytime, and if your hardware doesn't work out we refund the current month.
LAST UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 7, 2026
1. Who we are
GimbalPilot is sold and operated by Briljans, a sole proprietorship registered in Falun, Sweden ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at hello@gimbalpilot.com.
GimbalPilot is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by DJI or Sony. DJI, Ronin and Sony are trademarks of their respective owners.
2. The service
GimbalPilot is a desktop application for Windows 11 and macOS (Apple Silicon) that automatically tracks people and objects using a DJI RS gimbal and a camera you provide. The AI runs locally on your machine; your video never leaves it.
Your subscription gives you a license to use the software, not ownership of it. The license is personal to you (or your organization) and remains valid for as long as your subscription is active, plus any offline grace period built into the app.
GimbalPilot is currently in public beta. It works — we use it ourselves — but you should expect rough edges, a limited list of verified hardware, and frequent updates. Section 3 explains what that means for you in practice.
3. Beta & unofficial protocol disclaimer
GimbalPilot controls DJI gimbals through an unofficial, reverse-engineered Bluetooth protocol. DJI does not document or support this protocol, and a DJI firmware update could change or remove it at any time, without warning, in a way that breaks GimbalPilot partly or completely.
Because of this:
- We make no guarantee of continued compatibility with any gimbal, camera, firmware version, or operating system.
- We commit to making reasonable efforts to restore compatibility when something breaks, but we cannot promise that a fix is possible or how long it will take.
- If a firmware update permanently breaks the app for your hardware, or your hardware turns out to be incompatible from the start, your remedy is simple: cancel your subscription and we refund the current billing period. See our refund policy.
Only ever use GimbalPilot with hardware you are entitled to use it with, and keep your gimbal's own safety guidance in mind — see section 8.
4. Subscription & billing
- GimbalPilot costs $12 per month, billed as a subscription through our payment provider, Stripe.
- The subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- A 7-day free trial is available inside the app. It requires no card and no payment details; nothing is charged unless you actively subscribe.
- You can cancel anytime through the Stripe billing portal, reached from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
- After checkout you receive a license key (format GP-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). The app verifies it online, with a generous offline grace period so a dropped connection never stops a live event.
- Prices are set in USD. Taxes, where applicable, are handled at checkout by Stripe.
5. EU right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. GimbalPilot is digital content that is delivered immediately: by starting the download and using your license key, you request immediate performance of the contract and acknowledge that the statutory right of withdrawal may thereby be affected under applicable law.
In practice this rarely matters, because our own refund policy is at least as generous as the statutory right: you get a free 7-day trial before paying anything, and if your hardware turns out to be incompatible you cancel and the current month is refunded. Nothing in this section reduces any mandatory right you have under EU or national consumer law.
6. Acceptable use
Your license allows you to use GimbalPilot for your own personal or organizational productions. You may not:
- redistribute, resell, rent, or sublicense the app or your license key;
- share your license key publicly or with people outside your household or organization;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with the license checks or trial limitations;
- use the software in a way that breaks applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate a license that is used in violation of these terms. If we do, and you believe we got it wrong, write to us — we would rather fix a mistake than lose an honest customer.
7. Intellectual property
The GimbalPilot software, website, name, and logo are our intellectual property (or that of our licensors) and are protected by copyright and other laws. Apart from the license described in these terms, no rights are transferred to you. The footage you produce with your own camera is, of course, entirely yours.
8. Disclaimer of warranties & limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, GimbalPilot is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In particular, and as described in section 3, we do not warrant uninterrupted operation or continued compatibility with third-party hardware or firmware.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability arising out of or related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages such as lost footage, lost revenue, or a missed production.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Swedish or EU consumer law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for intent or gross negligence.
Safety — read this part twice. GimbalPilot moves motorized camera equipment automatically, without a human at the controls. You operate that equipment at your own risk and remain responsible for it at all times:
- Mount the gimbal securely and keep the moving camera clear of people, cables, and obstacles throughout its full range of motion.
- Never leave an actively tracking rig where someone could walk into it.
- Follow the safety instructions from DJI and your camera manufacturer.
9. Privacy
We collect only what we need to run the service: your email address, license key, device identifiers, and subscription status. Video is processed locally on your machine and never sent to us. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details never touch our systems. The full details are in our privacy policy.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves — for example when the beta ends or features change. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or inside the app before it takes effect. If you do not accept the new terms, you can cancel your subscription before they apply; continuing to use GimbalPilot after the effective date means you accept them. The "last updated" date at the top always tells you which version you are reading.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence, and you may bring disputes before the courts of that country. EU consumers can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform, and Swedish consumers can turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN).
12. Contact
